A downloadable game

SPELUNK! is a lighthearted fantasy roleplaying game where the stakes are high and the risks are often hilarious. Players take on the roles of daring adventurers—Warriors or Wizards—exploring dungeons, battling monsters, and seeking treasure. The catch? Rolling a 1 means everything goes disastrously wrong.

The game is simple yet surprising: no stats, just quirky equipment, offbeat character traits, and a dose of silliness. Combat is fast and fun, with damage determined by die rolls and magical mishaps happening when spells backfire.  Perfect for a one-shot when someone has totally forgotten to prepare.

Free to download and the rules are under a public domain license - so go create your own SPELUNK! stuff!

I just read the french version by Bruno Bord .

Well here's a very good little ttrpg to play fun and quick dungeon crawls.

I adore.

It's cool, it's funny, it's clever and it's perfect for on-the-go games, discovery games or family games.

Well done !

Some members of the French Wing of the RPG Massive have suggested that maybe it’d be possible to extract a SRD of Spelunk! and propose to make new classes or even hacks of it.

I thought about it a little and I think it’d be doable, even though there are some details I’m not sure how far I should go (for example: are all NPCs bound to be described as Hit Points + Damages + a motivation? doesn’t that narrow the possibilities a bit too much? should we abstract them even further and say “NPCs are two stats and a description of the thing they want the most”? And by doing that, isn’t it too far?)

What do you think about it, Scott?

Fun game ! In the wizard description, 3d result of " why do you adventure", is iy really "Discover with monsters taste best" ?

Thank you. Yeah that's right. Delicious!

Shouldn't it be clearer to write "discover wich monster taste better" ?

Love this. It makes me want to translate this in French. That’s a good sign.

Keep up the great work, Scott!

Great job, love the vibe here. Looks like a fun, 'beer & pretzels' style game. Love it!

Thanks Matt. Yeah that's exactly what it is.
