Imagine another world, one whose destiny you can shape like wet clay. A world of serpent spires and crystal cities, of malign sorcery and seas of blood. Imagine becoming an explorer of this strange and brilliant world, plundering lost treasures from ages undreamed of and doing battle against nightmarish foes. Imagine growing old here as a stout veteran, toppling kings and razing cities.

This is the world of Witch Dream - a living, breathing place of exquisite dangers and monstrous ambitions. Within this world you will live many lives as time passes just like in our reality. Gather your allies and open the portal to a realm like no other.

Witch Dream is a highly minimalist adventure game based on fantasy pulps like Elric, Conan and Jirel of Joiry.

If folks are interested, I made a little character generator for Witch Dream. It doesn't include skills, but everything else should work! Let me know if you use it!

Love it! Thanks for making and sharing

This is fantastic, thank you for creating this!

Witch Dream is a fantastic gateway to FKR gaming.   Any plans for supplemental material for it?  How about sharing some actual play reports of your solo sessions?  I’m looking to start solo gaming as well.

I'm definitely going to take this game to my next game night with a small group and very limited time available. It is even easier than the last small retro fantasy rulebook I bought, one also specifically labelled as "easy." It is more straightforward and more story-driven than that (and most games), yet slightly bigger than the one-page RPGs I know. Also, I love the Dying Earth, Howard and C.L. Moore references. I hope there'll be more in that vein, even though this PDF is specifically meant to be short.

ohhhh yeah, oh hell yeah, this is everything i ever wanted, yes yes yes, its giving primordial tequendria. its also exactly what i wanted for some pulpy dying earth pickup games.

You know your Trollish Delver lore! Really glad you dig it!

This is exactly the FKR game I have been looking/waiting for. Have already rolled up my region, rumours, encounters etc and now ready for my group to explore.

I am thinking of adding in some extra tables/ideas for the Witch Dreams themselves, some astral plane, eternal champion, psychedelic dreamlands adventures to go along with the physical ones.

Do it do it do it do it!

Done and done: https://jellyrovers.itch.io/tables-for-a-witch-dream (Hope this is okay - I have zero to no graphic design ability.)

How many players is this game designed for?

(+2)

It's 2-5 in the book, but really any number. Also very easy to solo (I'm running a solo campaign myself at the moment)

Thank you so much for the reply. It's awesome to know it can be soloed!

Excellent! I was just toying around with another FKR, trying to figure out how to make my idea fit with the 'rules' and you drop this. Works perfectly, thank you!

Matt, you're a good egg. Hope you have fun

Digging this one! Love the latest update too. When I feel the need to play a game, it's this style that pulls my attention. Feeling compelled to make some art for this....

Nossa amei o material, sera mais um que vai entear na minha coleção, estou curtindo bastante essa proposta de FKR.

Another banger from Trollish Deliver Games, stripping back the mechanics to a simple 2d6 and instead leaning in to the shared fiction. Favorite line: "Either way, they players begin interacting with the world of shared imagination. This is literal magic." Beautiful work as always 🤘🙏🤘

Thanks so much!

Thank you for yet another banger. Love the FKR "Play the World" sensibilities here. Absolutely is being added to my collection for playing with students! first game I played with students was Dungeon Gits and your games just continue to speak to me!
